Long time, no update!!

Lots going on as we enter the holiday season.

We finished up our Fireproof study this week, so we will be able to join in the church-wide study of "A Different Kind of Christmas." It is a daily devotional study for the Advent season. If you were unable to get a copy on Sunday, you can pick one up this week.

UPCOMING HOLIDAY EVENTS:

Sunday School Thanksgiving - Sunday 11/18 - we will meet at 11:30 to start our meal. Family friendly. Still need a host.

Ladies Christmas Cookie Exchange - Saturday 12/1 at 6pm. Bring 1/2 dozen cookies for each person participating and drop a dozen off the Friday night before for the cookie walk. Dont forget your recipe and no chocolate chip cookies allowed! Bring snacks, drinks, etc to share! Evite to come.

Sunday School Christmas - Friday 12/21 @ Scott & Katherine's. More details to come

Women's Retreat - Oct 12-14

What a wonderful and refreshing women's retreat weekend at Lake Texoma.

The theme was "Treasured" based on Deut 14:2 "God has chosen you out of all the people on earth to be His personal cherished treasure."

Several of our Crossroads ladies had the opportunity to enjoy this special weekend.

Last Sunday in Sunday School we finished up session 2 and had some great discussion about loving our spouse as God loves us and what keeps us from having truly unconditional love for God and our spouses.  Our last discussion question encouraged us to examine our relationships with God and our spouse and think about what steps you can take to love them better.  Be sure to finish up the couples questions in session 2, and feel free to start browsing through session 3.

Events -

*Women's retreat - coming up the weekend of October 12th.  If you have not signed up to go yet, it is not too late!  It truly is a blast, and the women on the committee have been working hard to make sure that you will completely enjoy the weekend.  There is a Crossroads cabin that we are getting again this year where the girls from our class can all room together.  Let Corey know if you need anymore info. 

*Murder Mystery party - Becky & JJ are hosting a murder mystery party on 10/27.  

*Sip and Doodle - We will be painting this Saturday from 7-9 pm.


See everyone Sunday!

This week in Sunday school we finished up "Fireproof" Session One questions with some great discussion on respect and love and how that looks to each person and how it could be shown.  If you were unable to come on Sunday, I highly recommend that you go through these questions with your spouse.  The answers may surprise you!  Next week we will start Session two with the video and intro questions.

Upcoming events:

*This Sunday (9/23) Becky W will be hosting a Scentsy party at their new house from 3-5pm.  If you are unable to attend but would like to order something, let her know, and she can get you a catalog.

*Guys - contact Tyler to let him know that if you would be available for a ramp build either the last weekend of October or the first weekend of November.  No experience needed!!

SEPTEMBER 29

-Travis is participating in Dentistry from the Heart that day offering free dental care to those who would be unable to do it otherwise.  He is in need of volunteers and donations.

-The 5K to benefit the HOPE early response team at Frisco FUMC is that morning.  More details to come!

-Pinterest group meets that morning to craft from 10am -12 noon, so if you finish running the 5K early, you can come back and craft!  Email Leslie so you can get the list of supplies to bring.  

-Frisco FUMC Fall Festival is that evening from 3-10pm.  This is a combination of the fall festival and Summer concert from last year.  There will be food, games, and music to enjoy.  Our Sunday School will be hosting our haunted house game again this year! Stay tuned for a sign up sheet to volunteer. We will also need at least 5-6 bags of candy to hand out as prizes.  The Fall Festival also has a dessert auction, so if you would like to make something for that, I am sure they would love it!!

OCTOBER 6

-For those who bought a Sip and Doodle living social coupon, they have opened a private party for us on the 6th.  If you did not receive Leslie's email last week, please let her know.  The party will be from 7-9 p.m.

Hope you all have been having a great week! It was so great to see some new faces this week to start our Fireproof study.  Welcome, and we hope that you will enjoy the study and the class!
We kicked off our Fireproof study on Friday with a viewing of the movie, then started the group study on Sunday.  We were able to get half-way through the first chapter, and we will finish up the discussion questions on Sunday.  For homework this week, please be sure to complete the questions on pages 16 and 17 as well as the individual and couple questions on pages 19-22.

*Dustin D is hosting a guy's afternoon to watch the Cowboys play this Sunday at their house.  Contact Dustin for more info.

Fireproof movie watching night

As you can tell, we had a FANTASTIC turnout for the Fireproof movie watching night last Friday, September 7. On Sunday we began the Fireproof study in Sunday School and so far so good!! God will be moving through all of our marriages.... I can see it already.

Annual Labor Day Progressive Dinner

On Sunday, September 2 Crossroads hosted our Annual Labor Day Progressive Dinner. We had appetizers, soup/salad, main course and dessert at the homes of 4 different Crossroad members' homes. We had a BLAST!! What great fun, food and fellowship we shared...

Fireproof study to start next week!

Happy Labor Day Weekend, all!

We will begin our new "Fireproof" study next Sunday, September 9 at 11:00 a.m. We will kick the study off with a movie night on Friday, September 7 at 7pm in the Loft. Free childcare is available, but they need to know ahead of time how many kiddos will be coming so they have enough workers! Invite anyone you know who might be interested in joining us!

Sunday School Updates 8/26

Annnnnd we are back!! It has been great having the class back together for the past 2 months after our long break while we all participated in the Disciple 1 Bible Study.

Here's what's coming up.....

Today we finished up the lesson from "When the Game is Over, It All Goes Back in the Box. This brought up some good discussion of having a God-rich life.  We remembered Pat Brach as an example of such a well-lived life in class, as well as, the nursery dedication on Sunday. 

The nursery renovation is complete, and we were able to get a glance at JeanAnn's mural on the nursery wall (It's beautiful!).
